Sam thanks but the machine used to perform the task, of watching, youtube films, at least pretty well. It changed somehow when we returned in the summer, and a friend was left in charge , so i wiped the machine and have now started again , but resulting in the same problem with flash films... any ideas? thanks adrian

Installing more RAM and updating all the software had absolutely no effect. It's possible that the G4 processor's just not up to the task anymore.
