Hi Adrian

My point is that the Adobe Flash Player has changed and also probably  
the encoding bitrate/format of the video on iPlayer and probably  
YouTube, meaning it's more difficult to decode, requiring a faster  
processor.

Computers themselves never get any slower, the software becomes more  
advanced and makes more demands on the hardware, giving the impression  
of a slowdown.
