Hi Gilly YOU feel giddy! Sorry if my email was a bit garbled, the screen behaviour is almost impossible to describe or pin down. The machine is a fairly new iMac 20" and only occasionally seems to flip its lid, most of the time it's perfect. I must be doing something to trigger it off. I wonder if UNIX has anything to do with it, as often I'm getting something called "Terminal" appearing, instead of the doc I'm trying to open/save. Hope the white stuff is not as bad down your way as it is here at Gatwick! John N
