There ARE files you shouldn't put up there. Last I heard, for instance, dmg files got corrupted. Also applications (and other packages) don't always survive the transition IME. Useful rule of thumb -- anything that you don't expect to function on a PC should be compressed first (so Word, video, music etc all fine, dmg/applications/Mac-only files like Omnioutliner, DEVON-annoying capitalisation-Think etc, be cautious).
