Dear Smuggers, I'm starting to look into replacing my venerable MacBook. I use it to scan negatives using a firewire (400) scanner and I see that the iMac and the MacBook Pro only have a Firewire 800 port. Is there a way of connecting a Firewire 400 device to an 800 port? or am I looking at replacing the neg scanner as well? As a supplementary, is Firewire going to be around for much longer? If it isn't then what will replace it, USB 2?
