...so I have this G5 PPC iSight iMac with a white strip down the screen and the FW is very erratic. I got it working, then nothing, then it worked, then nothing. I want to get it working well enough to do iTunes and films and not much more, with everything interesting on an external USB/FW disk. It's FW 400, naturally.
The hardware test has it pass everything (including logic board) but I can't do much with it unless I can start it in Target Disk mode to move stuff off the really old iMac (including the OS if possible). Why would a machine not recognise it has FW? There are two ports, and I've tried the following: different port different cable different FW 400 device on the other end I've also tested all those against the OLD imac/FW disk and everything works as expected. I reset the PMU or SMC by holding down power for ten seconds without power cable attached. anything else to try? Bluetooth is also flakey -- on starting from the installer disk, it recognised the mouse once but not the next time. cheers for any tips on what next. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Sussex Mac User Group" group.
