I think I was the person who raised this matter. PC World and Dixons (and Currys) are now one firm. They have shops at several, but not all, airports. Certainly at Gatwick North, and Heathrow 3 and 5. These were selling Macs for around 15 to 20% lower prices than you can get from an Apple store. You can buy to take with you, or to have sent to your home, or to collect on the way back, though the best iMac they do was only available to be delivered to your home. They do not have, and won't get you, any of the specials (faster internal discs, more RAM, etc). The PC World in Heathrow 5 actually has a little Apple Store and people who seem to know a little, which is a change, but I think Sam's warning that he'd never heard anyone at PC World who knew what they were talking about is something to keep in mind.
I have not flown since the iPad was launched here, but will at the weekend. I'll try to remember to tell the list what prices they have. Clearly, since the machine can be delivered to your home, you don't need to leave the EU to get these prices. But I'm not sure if you can get them with a domestic flight.
