I was told something similar in John Lewis in Edinburgh. I was so incensed I gave the salesboy a real dressing down (never nice to see) and wrote to complain to the management. He claimed you couldn't run any serious software, such as Office, on the machine. There was Office for Mac in the case next to the MacBook. I'm not the person to say that to. I used Ms Write, their response to MacWrite, and I used Word from version 1 (it was a decent program till 3, or perhaps 5).
It none of it mattered to my aunt, who way buying, who wanted email, the web, and to write simple letters and store photos.
