Hi everyone.

The 10.4 discs that came with my iMac, for example, have the words Mac OS
version 10.4 in a block of small print on the discs themselves. Ditto the
10.3 discs I have from the time I used that system on a G3 iMac.

I'm pretty sure the supplied system discs always say in small print which
system they contain.

If you own 10.5 discs that *came with* a ppc G5 iMac they will probably be
grey, whereas over the counter later-bought 10.5 discs (ie not supplied with
a computer) will be black.

Either of these would suit my requirements whereas 10.5 discs supplied with
an aluminium Intel Mac would not.

I know I could buy the software on Amazon but being recently unemployed
rather precludes frivolous spending on such things!

Thanks for all help so far!
