hmmmm. I spent last night again on this and searched about too, it seems it is a bug with iTunes on the iPad.

If you create a smart list or a normal playlist containing just podcasts, it does not sync the contents to the iPad, although does show them within iTunes as if they should be there.

I have not got smart lists working :( but a normal playlist as long as you have a normal music track within the playlist it will sync any podcasts also in the playlist.


So it seems a problem, which is a pity.  I hope Apple fix it!
