Peter,

Just a thought, when you collect Pop email, your account can be configured
to empty the mailbox so that when your second Mac goes to collect the mail
there is nothing to collect.

Mail->Preferences->Accounts->Advanced->Remove copy from server after
retrieving a message: .....

This is unlikely to be the problem but might be worth checking your email
settings if nothing else seems to be the problem.

Best regards, Paul Owen

Hi Peter

When you collect email from the same account on two computers (with a POP
account), the first computer will lock the mailbox. If the second computer
connects at the same time then it'll get an error.

It's a long shot but that could be a possible cause?
