Have you tried holding home + power for 10 seconds? Try also leaving it 
connected to the power adapter, not the USB cable to the computer, to make sure 
that the battery's charging.

I have seen one iPad that broke entirely, Apple replaced it promptly and after 
a sync to iTunes everything was restored.
