Hi all, I posted some while back about my issues with this and thought I'd pass on an update in case it is of any use to another SMUGger who experiences the same issue (there are loads on Apple's boards, seemingly after the IOS 4.3 update).
I received my iPad Classic on the 26th May 2010 and fitted the SIM card either on that day or the following - it had never been touched or removed until a couple of weeks back when I suddenly got a dialog telling me that I had "No SIM card installed" when I went to use the 3G feature. I shall not bore you will the details of the wiping, twice of my iPad's data, three restores from backups and the replacement of my entire iPad by Apple. At the end of the day, still "No SIM" was seen on the top status bar. I felt that the problem appeared the day that I installed iOS 4.3 but could not be sure. Last week saw the release of iOS 4.3.1. Before the update my iPad displayed "No SIM", after installing iOS 4.3.1 the message vanished on restart and has since worked absolutely fine, apart from one fleeting moment when it came up with "No SIM card installed" which I clicked OK on and then the text 'Orange 3G' appeared. It's a funny business. So far, so good...
