Unlocking the e585 mifi is easy but I found USB passthrough wasn't cutting it when I had it connected to a windows vm on my mac so had to attach it to a PC running xp to get the job done.
To configure a new provider on the mifi you just need to define a new profile & enter the telcos apn details ( available online if you can't get it from wherever you buy it) (catch 22?) If you cant get hold of a microsim, use a sharp knife & cut a regular sim down to size.
