It does occur at about the same point on each recording.

I think the mini does have an input point. I am new to Macs and haven't 
recorded on it before. I have Garage but haven't used it yet. I don;t know if 
there is any other way of recording on the mac? I have to do this work very 
quickly. I have a microphone, a very cheap one which is a logitec. I did plug 
it in on the back, there are two jack points, one for headphones and the other 
one looked like an input, but when I switched the mike on, it didn't light up. 
I looked in the preferences and under sound there is an audio line input and 
the levels were up reasonably high, but still no joy.

I did wonder if the voice recorder on my phone was faulty? not sure if this can 
happen.
