Some time ago I asked about highlighting the pointer on screen. There were several possibilities, and I ended up using a bigger pointer. However, mousespose is currently on sale at the App store, and is very easy and effective to use. For those of you who were interested in this, you might want to take a quick look and decide if this helps. You can have it launch on start up and you can have it controlled by, for instance, the f keys.
