I think we have a winner. Thanks Graham. I wouldn't have got there on
my own - at least not for ages.

So, anyone who's updated to the latest version of OS X and is running
Parallels 6 Desktop and is experiencing problems (running hot, fan
going crazy) should have a look here

where you can download the latest version of Parallels. It's fixed the
problem for me so far. Oh, and the Dock's come back.

SMUG as I believe the young people say, rocks...
