Diana, Used to have a similar problem until I stopped my desk being cleaned with Mr Sheen. Suffering excessive build-up on the surface of the desk which the mouse was picking up. This gathered in clumps on the bottom of the mouse leaving black streaks on the desk.
Damp cloth with a smear of detergent cleaned it off the mouse and the desk but my desk is no longer shiny. Chris Webb .
