Hi Adam When you're accessing the Home > Applications folder, you're not accessing the Applications folder, you're accessing the Home > Applications folder, they're different folders. Most Apps are normally kept in the Applications folder but you can store one in the Home > Applications folder if you want it to be private to your user.
Lion hides the user's Library folder but if you open up Applications > Utilities > Terminal and copy/paste in "chflags nohidden ~/Library" and push return, that will bring it back again.
