if you have both accounts open in mail (or entourage or whatever else does
imap)  you can drag your old hotmail emails into folders in gmail.  I have
been doing this over the weekend for an exchange account to make it more
searchable.  I assume you can open hotmail from a real email program...
 Uploading into gmail is very slow though, i think they throttle the speed
to prevent spam.
