Well done, Ive had similar experiences to you in the past as well. It doesn't quite take the edge off the hassle you have been through with the machine in the first place, but it does go a long way to make up for some of it. I have found that apple will almost never budge if people "demand" a replacement machine when one has been in for service, so I would be interested to know if they offered it to you or you asked for it...
In my case where this happened to me i sent in my 12" G4 powerbook, which they lost, and they replaced it with a 15" powerbook (of higher spec) because my original 12" had been a custom order with more ram and bigger hard drive. So the first offer was an off the shelf 12", but when I pointed out that the one they lost was higher spec than the proposed replacement they could offer the "next one up" to match it. I'm pleased they have kept you happy in your case, because from their point of view the whole experience to them could mean that your next laptop (and potentially every other computer purchase from you in the future) might be a sony vaio or a lenovo rather than an apple, and I'm sure thats what they really dont want.
