I must agree with that, too. Having been stupid enough to buy one several years 
ago for my old 1st gen MBP - it lasted about 6 weeks if I remember correctly…

Unfortunately, the after-market items on eBay are pretty shoddy. The colour 
usually doesn't match, they're quite a 'tight' fit (so if they swell, you're 
screwed!) and they usually last about 4 months.

I know they're expensive, but the Apple original is the best option.
