Hi, I am using a "cloud" software which is very nifty and quite good, but since the text I am working on (a translation, this is a erb-based computer aided translation tool called XTM) has tags (in translationese, it marks formatting or xml/html codes).
My problem is: there is a way of inserting the tags with keyboard shortcuts, but they don't work on the iMac keyboard (the corded one - I need the numeric keypad). I tried the fn key combination at no avail, not to mention all other combinations under the sun. The combination I need is Alt+0, +1, +2, etc. to insert the tags - of course I can copy and past them. But it's quicker with the shortcuts. I know there isn't an insert key on the mac, but this is another key that is missing Alt+Insert to copy the source text into the target segment. I've already trawled the web for an answer and the software manual makes no mention to mac keyboards - in fact, there are thousands of translators using macs and amazingly a few handful of programs, and we have to use wretched Windows to run them. Apparently software developers are stuck with .net….. and can't port them to Mac (or so I understood it was the reason, I am bit of ignorant regarding writing software). Don't think writing to the program support will be a good idea as I am sure they don't know the answer. Any help/light will be appreciated.
