Good spot Russell, that's definitely part of the problem. My iPad diary lost its duplicates when I switched off iTunes syncing. It's not fixed the "local" iMac though (where iTunes is running) and the vast majority of diary entries are made. The diary there presumably got its duplicates from iCloud (which in turn came from iTunes), but how do I now get rid of those?
