First off I'm no expert.

Your mission, Phil, should you choose to accept it....

What I'd try is backing up Calendar on iMac. De-linking iCloud but don't
delete. Then after you've done that it should be safe to delete everything
off the iMac (having saved your backup to desktop or somewhere). Check
icloud to ensure no duplicates there. If there are, sort them out (maybe on
the ipad). Then relink (ie set up iCloud for calendars again) on the iMac.
iCloud syncs with calendar and with any luck you are cooking with your own
choice of fuel. Then if all is actually well you can trash the backed up
calendar file.

But I am not an expert!

I suspect you are not alone so you might like to remember that GIYF.

Good luck!

Good spot Russell, that's definitely part of the problem. My iPad diary
lost its duplicates when I switched off iTunes syncing. It's not fixed the
"local" iMac though (where iTunes is running) and the vast majority of
diary entries are made. The diary there presumably got its duplicates from
iCloud (which in turn came from iTunes), but how do I now get rid of those?

"Curiouser and curiouser", said Alice – although I suspect her language
would have been a little more extreme should she have been wrestling with
iCould.

Make sure you are "syncing" for want of a better word through iCloud and
not iTunes. Good way to get loads of duplicated duplicates in a multitude
of duplicated calendars...

All,

My early experience with iCloud all seemed reasonably trouble-free and I
was feeling pretty smug. I might have known. I've just upgraded my old
iPhone 1 to an iPhone 4 so can now add it as an iCloud "client", and
suddenly I have every entry in my calendar duplicated (and I'm far too busy
already. I simply can't to go to every meeting twice). Can anybody suggest
what I might have done wrong? Oh, and how to fix it?
