Hi Ranulph - this is the link to the Apple support page with instructions.

http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=link&apdid=pht6d60b524&viewlocale=en_US&bookId=iPhoto%20%E2%80%9911%20Help133083

At the moment it says the link isn't working due to a scheduled upgrade, but
keep trying. I followed the instructions previously and they worked for me.

Can't comment on the clone idea, though.

Best wishes
Catherine
