I have 4GB of Apple RAM and 8GB of Crucial RAM (installed the day I got my iMac
home). This never caused a problem with Lion and since installing 10.8.1 I have
so far been free of any more crashes.

My partner's MacBook Air has only the Apple installed 4GB.

I don't know if that helps at all really ...

Regards,

Stephen
