there is a link. I guess DB have started expiring passwords (not a bad thing).

What doesn't make sense to me is how so many things are still working despite 
the password change (including the mac app).

I assume they have some kind of 'magic link' that says 'this was properly 
authenticated at the time'.

A relief in some ways, given how many apps I have using it!

And DB on Mac has *just* decided to be happy working, after a restart.
