For what it's worth, I have a WiFi iPad 3, iPhone 5 and MacBook Pro all signed into my iCloud account.
The current Mrs MacService has an WiFi iPad 2, iPhone 4 and (older) MacBook Pro signed into her own iCloud account. My 2 sons both have an iPhone 4 and their own iCloud accounts. I can send iMessages from any of my devices to whom ever I wish amongst them, and it arrives on all their registered devices. It's about the iCloud account rather than the device and who's details you have in what field in your contacts. I also have the SMS Messenger/Client bundle installed on my iPhone and MacBook to make general texting from my laptop 'feasible.' http://macmedianet.com/smsclient.htm Chris Webb .
