Andy, Not decrying Apple kit but in my experience, their Wireless equipment tends to die after about 14 months. After my 6th Airport Express (I only bought 4, Apple replaced 2) I gave up and went to Devolo kit.
The Devolo kit uses your mains wiring to connect remote Wireless Access Points via a Mini-Base to your router. The only caveat is that all the devolo kit must be behind the same Electricity meter. Also, it really is plug-and-play and each WAP has its own WPA secured network. http://www.devolo.co.uk/consumer/dlan-mains-supply-network-via-powerline.html?l=en When you've chosen, I find the best prices on Amazon.
