Breathe a sigh of relief all - my iPad 1 (iOS 5.1.1) shows March 2013 just fine.

Virginia, do you and your husband share/publish/suscribe to a specific 
calendar? If so, try switching it off as I'd think that perhaps there may be a 
corrupted event in that month. Also, if you can see March 2013 on your Mac, if 
you have one (I'm assuming iCloud here, perhaps) have a look and see if there 
are clues as to what the culprit might be.
