I only have an original airport express that needs the old manager software to 
run it, but in that version it is possible to downgrade the firmware, so if you 
suspect the update has caused the problem you may be able to go backwards a few 
versions to see if it works again.

I have speakers in other rooms connected to an Airport Express to play 
music via iTunes or Remote app.  All worked well until recently.  Now via 
iTunes on my Mac or Remote app on iPad/iPhone the remote speakers are 
listed but iTunes and Remote do not connect to them and will only play 
music through my Mac.  The Airport Express are working and my network seems 
fine.  I have installed updates I found on Airport Utility when I checked. 
 What has changed that they will not work now?
