I've never been an enthusiast of Skype, partly I think because the Mac version always seemed to be pretty dire and the iOS app somehow alien. Most of our extended family have an iOS device so I'd wondered how FaceTime Audio would work out.
I've used it on a couple of occasions so far and the quality of the connection has been very good. I can see myself using it regularly from now to reduce mobile phone charges by getting a plan with fewer inclusive minutes. Which suits me as I'd decided to buy an unlocked iPhone 5S rather than take a subsidised one on a two year plan - it's quite a lot cheaper I believe to buy outright if you can afford it. Apple have been very quiet about this. Maybe FaceTime Audio will become popular in the same way iMessage has and take more revenue away from mobile operators.
