Dear Smuggers
I regretfully announce that I think I must hand over the reins of the
group. I tried this a couple of years ago and in fact someone got in
touch and I regret to say that the chaos that led to my asking
contributed to my not following up -- I mislaid the details of whoever
kindly came forward.
After a sustained period of work being crazy (now coming to an end) I
now find my personal and family life melting down on several fronts in a
way that will not end soon and must give up all non-essential (to me!)
activities to cope with the demands on me.
I'm happy to have a decent cross-over for someone to learn the ropes and
to advise on future issues (while respecting the new admin's need to
make their own decisions). I have every intention of remaining as a
member, I'm just struggling with the (mostly fairly light) admin duties
that go on behind the scenes. It's one too many errands, too often.
It's not *difficult* technically, and it calls for the courage of your
convictions about once a year to preserve a good list culture/violently
and arbitrarily repress someone's rights to post anything they like to
the list and deny them their freedom of speech which is an essential
human right and you alone are undermining civilisation (depending on
your perspective) [ps you have to *not want to* violently repress people
to get it right...]
It must have been ten years now, I can't even remember when I started.
When did Jason become a councillor?
So - who's game? (PS the name 'Jason' not a requirement, even though
it's a tradition...)
