Hi all,

Apple's support page says that I can restart my iPad by holding down the
sleep/wake button until the "slide to power off" then slide, wait and then
done. I've done this many times over the years with no problems.

It also says that a reset can be done by holding down the sleep/wake button and
home button together for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears. It says
this should not be done except as a last resort. Why is this? Why do a reset
anyway, what extra does it provide and why only as a last resort?

Cheers for any advice.

Stephen
