Yes, I'm using that adaptor, and confess, not Apple legit but eBay's finest 
via Hong Kong. Worked like a charm the past few years but perhaps now it's 
on the blink?

I've heard that booting with the system CD, holding down D might diagnose 
the card if it's that?
