Hi. I have come to the conclusion that the fault probably lies in the scanner. I searched online to see if anyone had a similar problem and it was suggested that I connect the scanner via USB, so I “borrowed” the lead from a dymo printer, attached the scanner and it was recognised in both System Preferences / printers and scanners, and in Image Capture.
I was able to make one scan in Image Capture, but the second attempt, I got a message stating that the scanner had found a fault and the scan was terminated. When I tried again, the scanner was not able to scan at all. Then I decided to see if it work with my macbook (an old white one) and the scanner wasn’t recognised in either image capture or in System Preferences. Tried it again in the iMac, and the scanner did show, but again, couldn’t complete a scan. I’m not sure how old it is, but I think it may well be time to just give up on it. Thanks for help and advice!
