If you mean file sharing, should be enough to have File Sharing enabled in 
System Preferences > Sharing, then they’re both on the same wifi network (use 
the username & password on the mac you’re connecting to when connecting). You 
can select the Mac in the sidebar of a Finder window. It doesn’t need to be 
enabled on both machines, unless if you want to connect from either one.

If you mean target disk mode, restart holding T on the keyboard and connect the 
two with a firewire or thunderbolt cable.

If you mean screen sharing, same as file sharing but enable Screen Sharing in 
System Preferences > Sharing.
