To wipe an iOS device : Settings > General > Reset > Delete all content & settings (is a full factory reset)
Sounds like you haven’t input the username & password for outgoing settings as well as incoming. When setting up the account the outgoing username & password boxes say “optional” but they’re almost always entirely necessary. Go to the email settings for that account in the Settings app, go into the outgoing settings and make sure the username & password is set there (99% of the time it’ll just be your email address & password. Also make sure that SSL is on and you’re using either port 25, 465 or 587 (whichever works). If your outgoing mail server is mail.btinternet.com <http://mail.btinternet.com/> (for example), it’ll be SSL off, port 587, authentication set to password. For smtp.gmail.com <http://smtp.gmail.com/>, it’s SSL on, port 25 or 587, authentication set to password. Regards Sam MacAmbulance Ltd.
