Hi (doffs cap at list admin. Please indulge one more on this)
Heard a terrifying story on a bus in Scotland last year on radio. House was
repossessed and in between purchase and acquisition the bitter former owner got
in, sawed through all the joists and water pipes...
When they thought they were moving in, they found that and it’s aftermath
instead. The house was condemned:(
cheers,
-Jason

It got worse. The remaining daughter who took power of attorney had a falling
out with her solicitor but didn’t tell us, so on day of completion the
certificate of probate was still with him. Luckily our estate agent drove over
and picked it up to smooth things along.
After completion, my wife went to the house with her mum to start planning the
works (full gut & refurb). As they were talking, an elderly lady wandered up
the path and stuck a key in the front door. Gemma asked her what she thought
she was playing at, turns out the previous owner had asked her to go pick up
her post and a ladder but neglected to explain the finer points of property
ownership & transfer.
