Thanks, Derek and Sam. I phoned Apple Care this morning and was on the phone for about an hour and a half. Eventually it turned out there was malware on the computer.mOn their advice I downloaded malewarebites and this seems to have sorted it out. My question now is : should I keep this on my MBP or just download it if I run into trouble again?
