Last week I updated my MBPro Early 2011 (SSD) to High Sierra as 3rd party software was demanding it. I feared the worst but it performs brilliantly on the old workhorse. But, there is one strange exception... the minute I plug it in to an external display (whether the lid is closed or open) there is a significant performance lag, lots of spinning beach ball, apps struggling and crashing. Any tips? Does it really ask that much more of the processor to send to a 2nd screen (again, even with the lid down?) Can't easily continue like this, it really is troublesome and really do need the larger screen when at my desk. Thanks folks - any ideas always appreciated.
