I like the ‘get out of jail’ metaphor. Like you, I am missing the Wigmore very
much. This house is not set up for classical music. Yesterday was Belinda’s
birthday. Graham gave her Sonos loudspeakers etc so now pop music (they tell
me it is mostly Abba) is blaring forth. I can shut myself away from it in my
bedroom and I can sometimes commandeer the tv in the sitting room and stream
concerts on to it. By far the best so far, (as far as sound quality goes) has
been Perenyi and Varjon’s recital at the Wigmore. I tried Cosi van Tuttle from
Youtube last night but the sound quality was awful. I’m going to try Berlin
Philharmonic tonight.
But things could be so much worse! Being cooped up with three quarrelsome
children as my son is must be awful. Belinda’s family are fun to be with and
there is lots of room in this house to get away from them.
I miss you! I will really appreciate our Wigmore concerts together once this
awful business is over.
