I tried for months to import a client’s aperture library into Lightroom, it was 1.5TB and repeatedly stopped while importing.

Having abandoned the retroactive aperture route, I decided to import the aperture library into lightroom. That was progressing nicely until about 20% of the way through the import when the Drobo drive containing the aperture library ejected itself and died. Proper died. I thought that would never happen. For £100 I could have bought a 5TB drive and backed up the aperture library before starting all of this. But I didn’t. Now I have to wait to see whether I just need to replace the Drobo power cable or whether I need to buy a new Drobo. Then I need to pray the data isn’t completely screwed to buggery. Happy days!! May this be a lesson to you all how not to upgrade your OS whilst at the same time failing to plan for the protection of any important archive material you may possess. Enjoy your weekend.
