That setting seems to behave itself here; if I install AppX on device1,
it will either magically download on Device2 or not, depending on
whether that setting is checked, and that seems still to apply (unless
they are busy right now grabbing apps I only want on one of them...)
But the one just under it, about installing updates, should surely do
what it says, and turn on/off automatic updates of those apps, *once
they're downloaded*.
Every now and then not being able to revert to an earlier version causes
havoc! I understand the infrastructure to keep all versions would be a
nightmare, but even if you backup a device and restore, it still gets
the apps direct from the App store, so there is no way to avoid this.
I even tried turning off iCloud keychain so this device would not access
the internet, seeing as you can't completely turn off wireless, but that
threatened to remove it from *all* devices.
The walled garden feels a bit claustrophobic today!
