See, the problem is the old camel’s nose in the tent theory.  While what you say here sounds noble…in some schools in sex ed they teach that homosexuality is normal.  In one school district they teach how to masturbate.  I sent an article to this group about 4th graders being taught how to put on a condom.  When these things are taught in a public school (or shown on broadcast television) it directly undermines my authority as a parent.  Don’t I have the right as a parent to determine what is acceptable for my children?

The allowing of a parent to opt out, as you mentioned, is a good thing but from what I’ve observed it is not the normal way sex education is handled in our public schools…and on the open airwaves, that’s even worse.

See I would say that discussion of condom usage is only appropriate for the parent, or the parent’s designee to discuss.  No other group, governmental or media, has the right to usurp the parents wishes in that matter.

I half agree with you  i think the parents should be the ones to talk to their kids. but unfortunately not all do so for the ones who dont it should be available. at our school the parents had to sign a consent form for the kids to learn about sex ed.
