Retailers Sell Expired Products

Those who use over-the-counter medicines are advised to clean out their medicine cabinets once a year and to throw out medications past the expiration date. New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer wants stores to do the same thing. The attorney general's office did a survey of retail stores in New York and found one-third were selling expired over-the-counter medications in violation of the law -- some were a year past the expiration. "Drugs may lose their potency and effectiveness over time," Spitzer says in a statement. "It is important for retailers to check their stock periodically and remove outdated products."
