Police upset at secret filming of
officers
LONDON -- British police are upset over a BBC documentary of a reporter who went undercover as a police officer, the London Sun reported. Mark Daly, 28, joined the Manchester police department and secretly videotaped fellow officers with a camera hidden in his uniform. He worked as an officer making arrests and taking statements, the Sun said. "Daly deliberately set out to ply young recruits with alcohol to loosen their tongues," a senior officer told the Sun. "The staff at Stockport, where he worked, recall he often questioned them about race and their personal views." Greater Manchester Chief Constable Michael Todd failed at his appeal to the BBC not to air "The Secret Policeman," Tuesday on BBC1. Meanwhile, Daly is out on bail after being charged with "suspicion of obtaining an advantage by deception" for his salary of $23,000 during his time at the Manchester police department.
