Poor Bill Clinton. We know he's lonely and unemployed, but he refuses to accept the reality that his "assistance" only makes things worse for his party.
The latest proof came with that USA Today/CNN/Gallup Poll showing that his campaigning for Gray Davis made Californians even more likely to vote for the recall.
Still, now he's sending a letter begging for money for congressional Democrats in what even the Democrat analysts acknowledge is a doomed effort to seize control of the U.S. House in 2004.
The campaign finance "reform" that the donkeys brayed so long for has devastated themselves, not the Republicans. Zillionaire fat-cat Guilty White Liberals were funneling soft money to the Dems but can no longer do so legally, while the GOP continues to receive support from its base of small donors.
None other than Democrat boss Terry McAuliffe recently admitted that the GOP was the party of the little guy, and he vowed to copy the Republicans' success.
We doubt that a money-grubbing form letter from Bill will do the trick.
But we do have a question about the return envelope that came with the Clintonoid junk mail we received.
It says, "Your first-class stamp on this envelope helps elect Democrats!" Didn't they make enough money from White House teas and Lincoln Bedroom rentals that they wouldn't need to ask people to chip in postage stamps?
