Thanks Jen, saving this one.....sounds delicous. I've bought the store bought apple crisp stuff before and liked  it. Bet this is much better....and man, serve it with some Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla and it's  heaven I bet. lol

Apple Crisp

  • 3 pounds tart apples
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter (1/2 stick)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Peel, core and chop apples, toss in a bowl with lemon juice to prevent darkening. In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; stir into apples. Set aside.

In another bowl combine flour, sugar and oats. Cut butter into 8 pieces, and cut butter into flour until mixture looks like crumbs. Stir in nuts. Butter a 10 X 10-inch baking dish. Spread apples in bottom of baking dish then sprinkle with flour mixture. Bake at 375� for 45 minutes, or until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned. Serve warm or at room temperature.

APPLE CRISP

Ingredients:

5 cups apples, quartered

1/4 cup water

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup butter, softened

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put apples in a 9 x 3-inch dish with water. Combine dry ingredients. Add butter and mix with a fork until mixture is crumbly. Cover apples with the mixture. Cover pan with tinfoil or aluminum wrap and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 30 minutes.

 

 

 

 

Family Favorite Apple Crisp

  • 4 cups apple slices
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 stick (4 ounces) butter
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour

Place sliced apples in a buttered 10-inch deep-dish pie dish, alternating with sprinklings of the cinnamon and salt. Pour water over apple slices.

In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, butter, and flour together with fingertips or pastry blender until crumbly. Sprinkle over the apples. Bake at 350� until apples are tender and top is browned, about 35 to 45 minutes. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
Apple crisp serves 6.
